Quality Assurance Engineer – QA Team

We are looking for a QA Engineer who enjoys a challenging testing opportunity, is enthusiastic about getting products live that customers love to use, and is serious about developing quality products.


Major Responsibilities

You will assume an important role within the core product QA team, developing and integrating automated testing suites for features and components to provide consistently high-quality software releases.

 

  • Help design and enhance an automated testing suite to cover execution of features and components in all areas of a distributed software product offering.
  • Ownership of testing of specific features and components within the Makana product suite.
  • Participate in the determination of acceptable release criteria needed for every release of the Makana product suite.
  • Research and evaluate new testing tools, technologies, and strategies to improve efficiencies in QA process.
  • Interact with Product Managers to understand compensation requirements.
  • Plan, design, develop, test and deploy software as a service (SaaS). Establish and achieve milestones on schedule.

Requirements

 

  • B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years experience testing and releasing products.
  • Expertise with one or more automated testing tools (Mercury, Segue, JUnit).
  • Working knowledge of software configuration and deployment.
  • Proven history of testing and releasing large-scale, high performance, distributed web-based applications.
  • Experience with one or more middle tier or server packages with knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses (Livecycle/Flex Data Services, Hibernate, Spring, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Windows 2000/XP/Server and Linux.
  • Experience testing distributed systems – intimate knowledge of designing functional regression tests.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Intimate knowledge of XML. Familiarity with XML-RPC, SOAP, XSL, XSLT and HTML.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Relational Databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, etc.), and UML.

Preferred

 

  • Experience with development tools like ANT, Subversion, Apache, and Tomcat.
  • Expertise in the sales compensation/performance management, accounting, human resources, or payroll domains.
  • Experience testing both licensed software and software as a service (SaaS).
  • Working knowledge of JUnit, Flex-Unit and any load/stress testing tools and/or strategies.We offer excellent pay, stock options, and benefits. We're located in historic Lexington, MA.
